Hello! My name is Dawit Alemu and I'm currently a senior at Towson University who loves to self-teach software engineering.
I'm mainly interested in full-stack web development, but open to learning new things.

In Summer 2024, I interned at Godaddy as a Backend Software Engineer on the Edge/API Gateway Team working on a CLI tool/lambda function written in Rust, Tokio, Axum, and Clap. I contributed to the first phase of a company-wide integration plan for a tier 0 service and wrote features that help streamline the configuration process of our reverse proxies for all of GoDaddy’s microservices and web traffic.
In Fall 2023 and Spring 2024, I interned at Baltimore Life Insurance as a Frontend Software Engineer on the Platform Team implementing my redesign of the home page for the Internal Agent Portal using React, which has now gone into prod.

Added features to a CLI tool that automates GoDaddy microservice configurations for the tier 0 Edge/API Gateways, and extended it into a HTTP lambda API. Enabled reading from DynamoDB, uploading parsed configs to S3, and more.
A self-hosted dev tool that achieves what postman does but with my personal preferences in its functionality and design. It is my favorite project so far because it solves a lot of pet peeves of mine and drastically improves my experience testing APIs over the experience postman gave me.
Implemented a redesign of the internal Agent Portal's home page to improve user navigation efficiency by reducing average clicks from 3-5 to 1-2.
A website I created to revamp a partner company's template-service website to solve responsiveness issues and unnesecary expenses.
A website that displays events and allows you to checkout tickets. Picks the two primary colors of a event's image and creates a smooth gradient background on the event details page.
A website was created by 6 devs led by Dawit Alemu to give back to our childhood church. Has youtube live stream, calendar booking, and gallery features with an admin portal to manage website's contents. I also created a baptism certificate automation tool.
A digitalized lost and found platform for users to retrieve lost items by posting information about their lost items and connecting with potential finders with rewards and incentives for finders. Recognized by VP and CIO of Towson University.
A sentimental first project where I decided to take action on my childhood dream to become a 'game maker', and introduced me to the world of software development. Learned physics and animation in game development, and more importantly, how to self teach software development, which brought me where I am now.
